January 17, 2011 | Monday night steak night at Under the Volcano! I had heard good things about it and I was happy to finally make it out there. For the steak, you’re given the option of a 16 oz rib-eye or NY strip. In addition to the steak, there’s also a salad, chimichurri, garlic mash potatoes, and flan.
For me, salad is salad, but the steak was delicious! I ordered my rib-eye steak medium rare and it came out perfectly. The chimichurri went well with the steak although it would have been great even without it. I’m a huge fan of steak and mash potatoes, and these mash potatoes were the perfect side for the steak. It so happened that I had been craving flan and the flan did not disappoint!! As usual, I had leftovers and took home half of my steak.
For $15, the steak night here is a steal! I will definitely be back.

May 4, 2009 | Monica wanted to visit Schiller’s Liquor Bar and I’m sure glad we went! It was just a good chance for us to take a break from allt he walking around and eating. I ordered a Moscow Mule ($11) – Stolichnaya vodka, ginger beer, fresh lime juice, and she got the Sparkling Mango ($11) – vodka, fresh lemon juice, and mango liqueur shaken and topped off with champagne.
The Moscow Mule is my new favorite drink! It’s sweet, but it’s ginger sweet, so ya know…not the same. But really, what made the place great, was the decor and feel of the place. It had an sorta old-diner-y feel, sorta? It didn’t feel too pretentious and yet it didn’t feel like a sports bar.
I do wonder what the place is like in the evening (it was early afternoon when we went).
